President: International University of Turkic States begins work in Uzbekistan
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that the International University of Turkic States has officially begun its operations in Uzbekistan.
Speaking at the 12th Summit of the Council of Heads of State of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) in Gabala, Mirziyoyev stated that Uzbekistan will assume the chairmanship of the Union of Turkic Universities, which brings together more than 100 higher education institutions.
According to the official website of the Uzbek president, Mirziyoyev said that the General Assembly of the Union of Turkic Universities is scheduled to take place next week in Tashkent.
During Uzbekistan’s chairmanship, the country plans to host the Days of Turkic Science and Innovation, aimed at promoting academic and scientific collaboration across member states.
The president also emphasised that the establishment of the International University of Turkic States is intended to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and education and to encourage research among talented scientists.
He proposed that, based on this new institution, a joint research support program be developed to further deepen scholarly collaboration among Turkic nations.
