President Mattarella: Italy committed to elevating strategic ties with Azerbaijan
Italian President Sergio Mattarella has reaffirmed Italy’s commitment to deepening its strategic relationship with Azerbaijan during his official visit to Baku, underscoring the enduring political, cultural, and economic partnership between the two nations.
“We attach great importance, in particular, to the strategic partnership between our countries,” President Mattarella said as he addressed an expanded meeting with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
He highlighted the multidimensional nature of bilateral cooperation, adding:
“These relations continue to expand, cover multiple areas and are of great importance for the future.”
During a joint press statement alongside President Ilham Aliyev, President Mattarella also spotlighted the cultural dimension of the bilateral relationship and outlined plans for deeper engagement.
“Tomorrow will be an important day for cultural and educational cooperation between Italy and Azerbaijan, and we will participate in a joint event tomorrow morning,” he announced.
According to President Mattarella, these initiatives are not only symbolic of mutual respect but are instrumental in strengthening long-term people-to-people ties.
“The step we are taking with President Aliyev will contribute to our mutual understanding, friendship, and cooperation. Italy greatly values this friendship and aims to elevate it to the highest level,” he emphasized.
