Presidential aide: Azerbaijan seeks answers on missing citizens from First Karabakh War
The fate of approximately 4,000 Azerbaijani citizens who went missing during the First Karabakh War remains unknown, despite repeated efforts to obtain information, Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, said on May 1.
Speaking to journalists in Khankandi, Hajiyev said that appeals have been made to the Armenian side through multiple channels, but no substantial information has been received.
“We still cannot obtain information about approximately 4,000 of our citizens. This issue remains open, and we have repeatedly appealed to the Armenian side. The last time representatives of Armenian civil society were in Azerbaijan, we also raised this issue. Information can be provided based on eyewitness accounts,” he said.
