Presidential aide Hajiyev alarms Azerbaijan's growing landmine casualty toll PHOTO
Hikmet Hajiyev, Aide to the Azerbaijani President and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration wrote on his X page that the number of mine victims in Azerbaijan is growing, noting that another case was registered on December 26.
Caliber.Az reports that according to the infographic he attached to his post, 341 people have been killed by mines in Azerbaijan since the end of the Second Karabakh War.
In the period 10.11.2022-26.12.2023, the mine caused 65 deaths and 276 injuries.
In the same period, mines claimed the lives of 50 civilians and 15 military personnel. 112 civilians and 164 military personnel were injured.
It should be recalled that yesterday an employee of the Azerbaijan Republic Agency for Mine Action (ANAMA), Mahmudov Zaur, while carrying out his official duties, hit an anti-personnel mine on the territory of Saryjali village, Agdam district.
The victim was taken to the district hospital. His condition is satisfactory.
