Presidential aide highlights growing role of information warfare in modern conflicts
Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration, Hikmet Hajiyev, stated that modern conflicts are waged not only on the battlefield but also in the information domain.
Speaking at the 4th Shusha Global Media Forum, Hajiyev noted that, given Azerbaijan’s growing role in the region, particularly in the media sphere, it is difficult to imagine a more suitable venue for the forum than the city of Shusha, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
According to him, despite negotiations with Armenia held last year and agreements reached between the sides, biased and problematic coverage continues to appear in some international media outlets.
The presidential aide emphasised that the Karabakh conflict remained at the centre of international media attention for many years.
“Some international media organizations sought to portray us as the guilty party in this conflict. This was regrettable. Speaking about the Karabakh conflict, it should be noted that our sole objective was to restore our sovereignty, and we succeeded in doing so. Nevertheless, biased attitudes toward Azerbaijan continued to persist in the international media,” Hajiyev added.
