Professor: Azerbaijan carries out tremendous work in liberated lands

06 December 2023 19:37

PhD at the Hungarian Institute of International Relations and Trade, professor Laszlo Vasa has said that tremendous work was carried out in the liberated Azerbaijani territories.

“Tremendous work has been carried out in the liberated Azerbaijani territories. I have special feelings and impressions associated with Karabakh and neighbouring liberated districts as I saw that everything was destroyed in these areas earlier. I visited Shusha twice and both times I saw only ruins, practically nothing else. However, now I see development. These territories have become prosperous, new villages and schools are being built. It is great that people who were forced to leave these areas in the past have returned,” Vasa told Trend on the sidelines of the forum entitled “Karabakh: Back Home after 30 Years. Accomplishments and Challenges”.

He mentioned that he admired the skills of those in charge of these areas, as they were able to implement large-scale projects on time and qualitatively. At the same time, social events related to the return of internally displaced people to their native lands were carried out.

Vasa also stressed that he was impressed when Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev mentioned Hungary as a reliable ally of Azerbaijan in the EU at the forum “Karabakh: Back Home after 30 Years. Accomplishments and Challenges”.

“President Aliyev noted Hungary as a reliable ally of Azerbaijan in the EU, while several Western European countries, especially France, adhere to anti-Azerbaijani rhetoric. These countries from time to time try to push through certain decisions in the European Parliament or the European Commission that are directed against Azerbaijan. Of course, I was greatly impressed when the Azerbaijani President mentioned Hungary given the high level of the Hungary-Azerbaijan relations,” Vasa said.

He noted that strategic relations have been established between Azerbaijan and Hungary.

“We can hope for Azerbaijan’s support in solving energy-related problems thanks to these strategic ties. This is especially important in the context of gas imports, which is very important during the period of difficulties associated with the war in Ukraine,” Vasa added.

The forum entitled “Karabakh: Back Home after 30 Years. Accomplishments and Challenges” was held at the ADA University, organised by this university in collaboration with the Azerbaijani Centre of Analysis of International Relations on December 6.  Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev took part in the forum.

Some 60 foreign experts from 30 countries attended the event.
