Prosecutor: Occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia — indisputable fact Trial details

At a court hearing involving 15 Armenian citizens, Senior Assistant to the Prosecutor General of Azerbaijan Vusal Aliyev said the occupation of Azerbaijani territories by Armenia was an indisputable fact supported by extensive evidence submitted to the court. 

“Although the occupation of the territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan by Armenia is an indisputable fact, and the numerous pieces of evidence presented at the court hearing have been confirmed, this does not diminish or exempt from responsibility the defendants, who are key figures in the criminal organisation they created,” Aliyev said in response to a remark from the prosecution on December 11, Caliber.Az reports via local media. 

The state prosecutor added that the crimes in question had been organised and supported by Armenia’s military and political leadership, and that they had been carried out with the involvement of the criminal group the defendants had joined at different times.

He noted that some of the defendants had, at certain periods, formally held positions within Armenia’s military or political leadership. According to him, the Armenian state and the fabricated regime had operated as a single entity in organising, committing, and maintaining the occupation.

It should be noted that Armenian citizens face charges including crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, preparation and waging of aggressive war, genocide, violations of the laws and customs of war, terrorism, financing of terrorism, violent seizure and retention of power, and several other crimes.
