Protestors demand end to Armenian environmental terror in front of EU-Parliament in Brussels PHOTO
A peaceful protest took place in the Belgian capital of Brussels in front of the European Parliament building on January 15 to bring attention to the Armenian environmental terror conducted on Azerbaijani lands in Karabakh and express solidarity with Azerbaijani protesters that have been holding a rally on the Lachin-Khankendi road since December 12, 2022 near the city of Shusha in close proximity to the Russian peacekeeping contingent, rallying for the same cause.
According to Report, the initiative in Brussels has been organized by Azerbaijani institutions in the kingdom, such as the "Azerbaijani House" organization and the Federation of Azerbaijanis in Belgium.
Slogans such as "End to the irreparable damage being caused to the environment", "Stop illegal activities of Armenian separatists" and "Stop plundering of Azerbaijan's natural resources" were portrayed on the posters of the attending demonstrators.
Caliber.Az recalls, that a delegation consisting of various Azerbaijani specialists from various governmental structures (Ministries of Economy, Ecology and Natural Resources and the State Property Service under the Ministry of Economy) and the AzerGold private company was supposed to conduct preliminary monitoring tasks at various Azerbaijani areas where activities of illegally exploiting mineral deposits were suspected of taking place. Negotiations between the Azerbaijani side and the command of the Russian peacekeeping contingent, which is temporarily stationed in those same areas, were held on December 3 and 7, 2022 to be granted access to those areas which was accepted. Upon the arrival to those areas, the agreed-upon monitoring work could not be carried out as the Azerbaijani specialists were stopped from approaching the sites due to the inaction of the peacekeepers this did not happen.
