Putin prepares retaliatory measures for Ukrainian incursion in Kursk Warns Russian diplomat

Russian President Vladimir Putin has prepared a response following an attempt by the Ukrainian Armed Forces (AFU) to infiltrate the Kursk region.

This announcement was made by Anatoly Antonov, the Russian Ambassador to the United States, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.

Antonov stated that Putin's response would be robust, with severe consequences for those involved in the incident. He emphasized that the Ukrainian operation would not result in any "buffer zone" within Russian territory. Additionally, Antonov noted that there have been no communications with the United States concerning this operation.

The ambassador firmly believes that the Ukrainian forces responsible for the incursion into Kursk will face decisive action. He also stressed the need for Russia to enhance its military capabilities and collectively focus on national defence.

On 6 August, the Kursk region was subjected to a massive attack by the AFU. The Ukrainian military shelled the border town of Sudzha and then launched an assault on the state border. As a result, the Ukrainian armed forces managed to enter Russian territory and take control of a number of settlements.
