Armenians among top recipients of Russian passports
Citizens from several post-Soviet states are among the top recipients of Russian passports, according to Russian media reports.
Demographer Yulia Florinskaya said that nationals from Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Ukraine, Armenia, and Uzbekistan are the most common applicants, Caliber.Az reports.
Between January and September 2025, a total of 110,800 people were granted Russian citizenship, marking a 30.1% decrease compared with the same period in 2024.
Russian passport issuance has declined sharply in recent years, with fewer foreign citizens granted citizenship, reaching the lowest level in at least five years, due to stricter controls and fewer large-scale simplified processes for residents of newly administered regions.
In 2024, about 209,000 foreign citizens received Russian citizenship.
