Raging wildfires threaten forests, tourist hubs in southwestern Türkiye PHOTO
Wildfires continue to sweep through parts of southwestern Türkiye, prompting an urgent, multi-agency response as blazes threaten forested areas and nearby communities in three provinces.
Active fires have been reported in Aydın, the coastal district of Alanya in Antalya Province, and in the Muğla districts of Köyceğiz and Milas — areas known for their dense woodlands and popular tourist destinations, Caliber.Az reports, citing Turkish media.
In response to the escalating situation, emergency teams from the General Directorate of Forestry, regional fire departments, and the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) have been swiftly mobilized. Ground crews are working in tandem with aerial units to contain the flames and prevent further spread amid challenging weather conditions and rugged terrain.
Two firefighting helicopters operated by the Muğla Forestry Regional Directorate have been conducting continuous water drops since early morning, as part of the intensified suppression strategy.
