Region between Europe, Asia cannot stay immune to global turmoil, says FM

The region located between Europe and Asia cannot remain unaffected by the negative processes observed in the world, Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov has stated.

The minister made the remarks at a press conference following the 10th meeting of the foreign ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye, noting that the ministers discussed developments surrounding Iran as well as issues related to achieving peace in the Middle East, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

He stressed the importance of compliance with international law and its principles in conflict resolution, emphasising that political and diplomatic methods must be prioritised.

“Achieving a ceasefire and transforming it into a lasting peace is a key issue for all parties,” the foreign minister said.

Bayramov also highlighted that the trilateral cooperation format between Azerbaijan, Georgia and Türkiye ensures coordinated action by the three countries on regional issues.

He further called on citizens of Azerbaijan and other countries to avoid being present in active conflict zones.

FM emphasised that the Russia–Ukraine war continues to generate serious risks regionally and globally, recalling a recent Azov incident in which Azerbaijani citizens were among the victims of a drone attack.

The minister stressed that as long as hostilities continue, such dangers cannot be fully excluded. 

In this context, he reiterated Azerbaijan’s position in favour of ending wars and resolving conflicts exclusively through diplomatic means.
