Regional peace to be achieved after complete withdrawal of Armenian armed forces from Garabagh - MFA
On September 19, Armenian armed forces committed a number of large-scale military provocations and terrorist attacks in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
"Thus, as a result of the explosion of mines laid by Armenian reconnaissance and sabotage groups for terrorist purposes on the Ahmadbayli-Fuzuli-Shusha motorway, civilians and servicemen of the Internal Troops of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were killed and wounded," the statement reads, Caliber.Az reports.
"In addition, units of the Azerbaijani Army came under fire from mortars and small arms of various calibres. As a result, two servicemen of the Azerbaijani Army were wounded. In order to continue such provocations, the Armenian armed forces strengthened their combat positions and put their units on high alert," the ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry told Caliber.Az that in order to ensure the provisions of the Trilateral Statement, the suppression of large-scale provocations in the Garabagh economic region, the disarmament and withdrawal of the armed forces of Armenia from our territories, the neutralization of their military infrastructure, ensuring the safety of civilians who have returned to the territories liberated from occupation, civil servants involved in construction and restoration work and our military personnel, as well as the restoration of the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, local anti-terrorist measures have been launched in the region.
The Armenian armed forces formations, their long-term firing points, as well as military means and military facilities, are being incapacitated using high-precision weapons in the front line and in depth.
As part of the activities, only legitimate military installations and infrastructure are targeted. Civilians are advised to stay away from military targets.
"The Azerbaijani side has repeatedly stated that contrary to the provisions of the Trilateral Statement of November 10, 2020, the existence of formations of the Armenian armed forces in the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan is a source of serious threat to regional peace and stability.
The only way to achieve peace and stability in the region is the unconditional and complete withdrawal of the Armenian armed forces from the Garabagh region of Azerbaijan and the dissolution of the illegal regime," the Foreign Ministry said.
