Romania supports Azerbaijan’s peace efforts, ambassador says

Romania has expressed its support for Azerbaijan’s efforts to foster an atmosphere of peace, stability, security, and prosperity in the South Caucasus, Romanian Ambassador to Azerbaijan Vasile Soare said.

Speaking at an official reception in Baku to mark Romania’s National Day, Soare highlighted the progress achieved over 34 years of bilateral cooperation, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

He cited significant developments in political, diplomatic, economic, energy, transport, educational, and socio-cultural spheres.

The ambassador described Azerbaijan as a country with considerable potential and ambitious goals, both domestically and on the international stage. He added that Romania has consistently been a sincere friend and reliable partner to Azerbaijan in global affairs.

Soare emphasised Azerbaijan’s role as a key transport hub capable of linking Europe, the Caucasus, and Central Asia.

He also noted that since 2022, Bucharest and Baku have been working on a project that could make a major contribution to Europe’s energy security: the “Green Energy Corridor” connecting Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania, and Hungary. 

The initiative is designed to deliver energy from alternative sources directly to European markets.
