Romanian senate delegation visits Khankendi to review reconstruction efforts
A delegation of Romanian senators led by Christian Augustin Niculescu Țâgârlaș, a member of the Romanian Senate representing Maramureș County and the Romania–Azerbaijan Interparliamentary Friendship Group, has visited Khankendi to assess ongoing reconstruction and development projects in Azerbaijan’s liberated territories.
During the visit, the delegation met with Elchin Yusubov, the Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in Khankendi, Aghdara and Khojaly districts, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
The guests were briefed on the extensive restoration work being carried out in the region, including the construction of modern residential areas, the expansion of social infrastructure, and the renewal of transport, energy, water and communication networks.
Yusubov highlighted that the projects are being implemented as part of Azerbaijan’s “Great Return” programme, under which former internally displaced residents are gradually returning to their homes and receiving necessary housing and social support.
He also noted efforts to create new employment opportunities and improve living standards in the region.
The sides discussed the importance of promoting entrepreneurship and attracting investment to the liberated areas. Azerbaijani officials said favourable conditions had been established for local and international investors, contributing to the launch of new businesses and increased economic activity.
The Romanian senators expressed their appreciation for the scale and pace of the reconstruction work, saying that the region’s development and modern infrastructure had left a positive impression during their visit.
