Russia, Azerbaijan mull preparations for UN climate conference in Baku

Representatives of Russia and Azerbaijan discussed preparations for the upcoming UN climate conference in Baku.

Russian President's Special Envoy on Climate Issues Ruslan Edelgeriyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin met with Azerbaijani Minister of Ecology and Natural Resources Mukhtar Babayev to review arrangements for the Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC COP-29), scheduled for November 11-22 in Baku, TASS reports.

"The key negotiating issues of the upcoming UNFCCC COP session were considered. Russia and Azerbaijan emphasized the significance of climate issues within the broader context of global efforts toward sustainable development. Both parties agreed to enhance collaborative efforts at all levels in preparation for this event," stated the Russian Foreign Ministry.
