Russia, Iran coordinate on regional issues, back expanded cooperation framework At Tehran Dialogue Forum
On May 18–19, Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia, Alexander Rudenko, visited Iran to participate in the international Tehran Dialogue Forum.
During his visit, he held talks with Iran’s Foreign Minister, Abbas Araghchi, and separately consulted with Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister for Political Affairs, Majid Takht-Ravanchi, focusing on bilateral and regional issues, Caliber.Az reports citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Both sides expressed mutual satisfaction with the ongoing strengthening of the comprehensive strategic partnership between Russia and Iran. The Iranian delegation provided updates on the ratification process of a new foundational interstate agreement, signed by the presidents of both countries in Moscow on January 17.
It was noted that the swift entry into force of this treaty would help to boost multifaceted, mutually beneficial cooperation.
Attention was given to the implementation of joint infrastructure projects in Iran, taking into account agreements reached during a phone call between the presidents on May 6 and the meeting of the Permanent Russian-Iranian Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation held in Moscow on April 25.
The parties welcomed the entry into force, on May 15, of the Free Trade Agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and Iran, aimed at boosting bilateral trade and fostering economic growth.
In addition, a range of international and regional issues of shared interest were discussed.
