Russia, Iran explore strategic military alliance, South Caucasus stability
Alexander Fomin, Russian Deputy Minister of Defence, met with Kazem Jalali, Iran’s Ambassador to Russia, to discuss critical issues surrounding bilateral military cooperation and the evolving security landscape in the South Caucasus region.
According to a statement by the Russian Ministry of Defence, the high-level meeting focused on a range of pressing topics integral to the enhancement of military collaboration between Russia and Iran, as well as the strategic outlook for implementing joint initiatives, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“During the meeting, the parties discussed a number of pressing issues related to bilateral military cooperation and the prospects for their implementation. They also exchanged views on key international and regional security issues, including the situation in the South Caucasus,” the ministry said.
Ambassador Jalali emphasized the robust and multifaceted nature of Russian-Iranian military ties, noting a high degree of momentum in their development. He reaffirmed Iran’s firm commitment to continuing and expanding this cooperation, underscoring the strategic importance both nations place on their defence partnership.
