Russia preparing response to US, Canadian sanctions

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova has said that Moscow is preparing a response to US and Canadian sanctions for a more focused impact on Washington and Ottawa.

"For our part, we are preparing retaliatory measures, creatively applying our accumulated experience for a more focused impact on Washington and its backup Ottawa. At a time when the West, led by the United States, is acting extremely aggressively and not shy about means, the Russian counter-sanctions will continue to be based on the principles of strict reciprocity and inevitability of punishment," TASS quotes Zakharova as saying.

According to Zakharova, the US is spurring its allies to impose sanctions against Russia in an attempt to boost the declining ratings of US President Joe Biden.
