Russian Defence Ministry reports nearly 300 Ukrainian drones shot down across regions
Air defence systems destroyed 296 Ukrainian drones overnight across various regions of Russia, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
The ministry stated that between 9:00 p.m. on May 27 and the following morning, air defence forces intercepted nearly 300 aircraft-type drones, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over the regions of Tula, Tver, Smolensk, Ryazan, Oryol, Kursk, Kaluga, Ivanovo, Voronezh, Vladimir, Belgorod, Bryansk, and the Moscow area.
Meanwhile, Russia carried out its third consecutive large-scale aerial and drone attack on Ukraine over the course of three nights, leaving at least six people dead and 24 injured across several regions, according to Ukrainian authorities on May 26.
Russian forces launched nine Kh-101 cruise missiles from Tu-95MS strategic bombers, along with a record 355 Shahed-type attack drones and decoys overnight, Ukraine’s Air Force reported.
Ukrainian air defences intercepted all nine missiles and brought down 233 drones, while electronic warfare systems neutralised a further 55 drones or caused them to vanish from radar, the statement said.
This assault marked the most extensive drone strike against Ukraine since the start of the full-scale invasion, surpassing the previous record of 298 drones launched overnight on 25 May.
