Russian official: National leader Heydar Aliyev prevented Azerbaijan’s collapse

Special Representative of the Russian President on International Cultural Cooperation Mikhail Shvydkoy has said that Azerbaijani national leader Heydar Aliyev prevented the country’s collapse.

“I have just looked through several historical documents and sources that reflected the events of Azerbaijani history from 1990 and 1991 to 1995. This was a period of coups, rebellions, when the country was simply split into pieces, when a great part of the country was occupied. The country did not collapse thanks to Heydar Aliyev’s will,” Shvydkoy told reporters, Report informs.
