Russian oligarch calls Ukrainians "Russians without imperial idea"
Russian Orthodox oligarch and media owner Konstantin Malofeev declared Ukrainians “Russians without an imperial idea” during the opening of his new course, “History of the Empire,” at Moscow State University.
During the session, Malofeev criticised what he described as the decline of modern civilisation, citing the involvement of today’s elite in sexual scandals linked to American financier Jeffrey Epstein, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
His introductory lecture also focused on the history of philosophy.
Turning to Russian history, Malofeev argued that the country “went off course” following the 1993 shelling of the White House, which he claimed marked the beginning of Russia’s “colonisation” by the United States.
He praised President Vladimir Putin’s Munich Security Conference speech as a turning point, saying it demonstrated that “there cannot be a single hegemon in the world.”
He told reporters that the faculty had invited him to teach the course, which comprises 18 lectures and concludes with a differentiated assessment. The next lecture will be delivered by publicist Yegor Kholmogorov, who will temporarily replace the main lecturer.
