Russian wheat transits Azerbaijan en route to Armenia

15 August 2026 10:58

A freight train carrying Russian wheat to Armenia has departed from the Bilajari station of Azerbaijan Railways, travelling in transit through Azerbaijan, according to local media.

The train, consisting of eight railcars, is carrying 560 tonnes of wheat and is heading toward the Boyuk-Kyasik station.

The latest shipment is part of a broader flow of Russian goods transported to Armenia through Azerbaijani territory. Previously, more than 42,000 tonnes of wheat, about 9,000 tonnes of fertiliser, 1,136 tonnes of propane, 133 tonnes of aluminium, 1,114 tonnes of coal and 67,000 tonnes of timber had been sent from Russia to Armenia in transit through Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan has also exported petroleum products to Armenia, including about 15,000 tonnes of diesel fuel and approximately 5,000 tonnes of AI-92 and AI-95 gasoline.
