Safety of all vaccines imported to Azerbaijan guaranteed
All vaccines imported to Azerbaijan are examined at the Centre for Analytical Examination of Medicines (CAE) of the Health Ministry and their safety is guaranteed. Vaccination of children in the country is carried out in accordance with the National Vaccination Calendar.
The statement came from the head of the department for the organisation of pediatric services of the Baku Main Health Centre, operating under the authority of the Association for the Management of Medical Territorial Divisions of Azerbaijan (TƏBIB) Esmira Hajiyeva, Report informs.
Hajiyeva said that as a result of regular vaccination, polio was eliminated in Azerbaijan, and the spread of diseases such as rubella, diphtheria, tetanus, and whooping cough was reduced.
"In Azerbaijan, infants receive their first vaccinations in the maternity hospital. In the maternity hospital, during the first 12 hours of life, newborns receive vaccines against hepatitis B, and within 4-7 days after delivery - BCG against tuberculosis and polio vaccine," she said.
Hajiyeva noted that after discharge from the maternity hospital, the child is registered in the district polyclinic, and the following vaccinations are regularly carried out in this medical institution.
In some cases, after vaccination, the child may experience adverse reactions, such as swelling, pain at the injection site and an increase in body temperature.
"Even if children have any reaction, it is important to understand that the benefits of vaccination far outweigh the possible side effects," Hajiyeva summed up.
