Saudi Arabia eyes new joint initiatives with Azerbaijan, says princess

Saudi Arabia is seeking to implement a number of joint initiatives with Azerbaijan, Princess Lamia bint Majed AlSaud, UN-Habitat Regional Goodwill Ambassador for the Arab States, said during the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku.

The Princess highlighted the growing potential for cooperation between Riyadh and Baku, noting that closer ties could help strengthen regional stability and foster joint initiatives spanning the Persian Gulf and the South Caucasus, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“We have seen many success stories here and learned many lessons, particularly in matters related to women and how to integrate women into society as active participants,” she said.

Princess Lamia also discussed her meetings with Azerbaijani officials held on the sidelines of the forum.

“Yesterday, we met with many government representatives, including the deputy minister of digital development, as well as other entities involved in children's and women's issues,” she said.

According to the Princess, Azerbaijan and Saudi Arabia face many similar challenges, creating strong opportunities for exchanging expertise and best practices.

“I think we have very similar challenges. There are many things we can learn from each other, because Azerbaijan is truly achieving great success in these areas,” she noted.

She emphasized that bilateral cooperation should be grounded in the principles of mutual support and shared development goals.

Princess Lamia added that Alwaleed Philanthropies plans to expand its cooperation with Azerbaijan, particularly in projects focused on supporting women, children, and broader social initiatives.
