Saudi Arabia informs Azerbaijan prior to establishing diplomatic ties with Armenia
Saudi Arabia has warned Azerbaijan in advance about establishing diplomatic relations with Armenia.
Armenia and Saudi Arabia signed a protocol on establishing diplomatic relations on November 24. The document was signed by Armenian Ambassador to the UAE Karen Grigoryan and Saudi Ambassador to the UAE Sultan bin Abdullah Al-Angari in Abu Dhabi, a diplomatic source told Trend.
All these years Saudi Arabia has not established diplomatic relations with Armenia and has recognized Armenia as an occupying state.
The source notes that France and the United States appealed to the Saudi authorities to establish diplomatic relations with Yerevan, but to no avail.
Back in 2020, Armenia approached Saudi Arabia through Lebanon and wanted to establish diplomatic relations. But at that time, Armenian armed forces units and separatist detachments continued to remain in Karabakh.
Now the realities have changed. Azerbaijan has finally put an end to Armenia's occupation of its territories.
