Panjab TV correspondent hails openness of Shusha Media Forum
The 4th Shusha Global Media Forum has provided an important platform for discussing the role of ethnic media and the challenges faced by oppressed communities, Harpreet Singh, international political affairs correspondent for Canadian broadcaster Panjab TV, has said.
In an interview with AZERTAC, he noted that holding such a global conference in Shusha to discuss the role of ethnic media is extremely important, Caliber.Az reports.
“From the perspective of preserving our history and gaining the freedom to speak openly about it, ethnic media are of vital importance to us," Singh added.
Thanking the Azerbaijani government for organizing the event, the forum participant further stated that this is an excellent opportunity to meet both other media organizations and their international colleagues who face the same challenges as they do — difficulties in preserving their identity and heritage.
“At the same time, it is a major opportunity to speak openly about the right to self-determination of communities that are subjected to pressure and oppression by foreign governments," Singh remarked.
