Slovak president to visit Azerbaijan with senior delegation
Slovak President Peter Pellegrini will pay an official visit to Azerbaijan from July 13, accompanied by a senior delegation that includes Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Robert Kalinák, Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Denisa Saková, Interior Minister Matúš Šutaj Eštok, and National Bank Governor Peter Kažimír.
According to Slovak media reports, Pellegrini’s programme will include a visit to Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district, where he is set to review the “Smart Village” project in the village of Bash Garvand and take part in a foundation-laying ceremony for a new school to be named after General Milan Rastislav Štefánik.
On July 15, the Slovak president is scheduled to hold talks in Baku with Azerbaijan’s Prime Minister Ali Asadov and Speaker of Parliament Sahiba Gafarova.
Pellegrini will also meet Apostolic Prefect Vladimir Fekete. As part of the visit, he is expected to lay a wreath at the Alley of Martyrs and pay tribute to Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev.
A Slovak-Azerbaijani business forum will take place in parallel with the visit, bringing together Slovak entrepreneurs. The forum is intended to expand trade cooperation, foster new partnerships, and support Slovak companies seeking to enter the Azerbaijani market.
“The continuation of high-level political dialogue between Bratislava and Baku confirms the interest of both countries in developing bilateral relations in areas of strategic importance for future development — from energy security and economic cooperation to innovation, transport, and technological partnership,” the Slovak presidential office said.
