Slovakia sees Azerbaijan as key strategic partner—president
Continuing the high-level discussions during President Ilham Aliyev’s official visit to Slovakia, Slovak President Peter Pellegrini emphasized the strategic importance of Azerbaijan in the region and the strong ties between the two nations.
“This visit of the President of Azerbaijan to Slovakia confirms our mutual interest at the highest level. We intend to establish and further develop a strategic partnership,” Pellegrini said during a joint press statement with President Aliyev, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
He highlighted the long-standing friendship between the two countries, adding, “Our countries are friendly, and our relations have always been strong. Slovakia considers Azerbaijan a strategically important partner in its regional context.”
Pellegrini also praised Azerbaijan’s economic and energy potential, noting, “Azerbaijan has the largest economy in the South Caucasus. Located at the crossroads of Asia and Europe, it also possesses rich energy resources.” He welcomed the growth in bilateral trade, stating, “I am very pleased that our trade turnover is increasing significantly. We also noted that there is still untapped potential in this area.”
