Slovakia values participation in Karabakh's recovery, deputy PM says

15 July 2026 12:23

Slovakia highly values the opportunity to participate in the reconstruction of Azerbaijan’s Karabakh region, Denisa Saková, Slovak Deputy PM and Minister of Economy, has stated.

Speaking at the Azerbaijani-Slovak Business Forum in Baku, she said Slovak companies are already contributing to Azerbaijan's development, and the Smart Village project in Aghdam is an excellent example of how Slovak technologies and expertise can provide practical solutions that improve people's lives, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

Saková noted that Slovakia sees considerable potential for cooperation in infrastructure, digitalisation, industrial production, water resource management and advanced technologies.

According to her, Slovakia is a modern industrial economy with a strong engineering tradition, highly qualified personnel and growing innovative potential, while Slovak companies are ready to become reliable partners in Azerbaijan's further development.

She also recalled that the Joint Declaration on Strategic Partnership signed in 2024 opened a new chapter in bilateral relations, with cooperation already delivering tangible results in energy, the defence industry, manufacturing, investment projects and the reconstruction of liberated territories.

In her words, Slovakia also highly values Azerbaijan's contribution to strengthening Europe's energy security.

Saková said Azerbaijan is playing an increasingly important role not only as a reliable energy partner but also as a major logistics hub connecting regions and markets.

"Energy remains one of the pillars of our economic cooperation. Diversification of natural gas sources and transportation routes is of key importance for both Slovakia and Europe, and we highly appreciate Azerbaijan's contribution to strengthening our region's energy security," she emphasised.

Saková noted that cooperation between the two countries extends far beyond the energy sector.
