Speaker: Azerbaijan’s 23-year surge transforms nation into regional power

The past 23 years have gone down in the history of Azerbaijan as a period of dynamic and comprehensive development, during which Azerbaijan’s political and military capabilities have significantly strengthened, Sahiba Gafarova, Speaker of the Azerbaijani Milli Majlis (Parliament), has stated.

During a parliamentary plenary session, she said Azerbaijan’s capabilities contributed to the resolution of key national challenges, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.

According to her, under the leadership of the Commander-in-Chief, Azerbaijan achieved victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the counter-terrorism operation.

“All of this is the result of the development initiated by Heydar Aliyev and successfully continued by President Ilham Aliyev. Heydar Aliyev’s return to politics in June 1993 and his work as speaker of Azerbaijan’s parliament helped bring the country to a new level of development,” Gafarova added.
