Speaker: Meeting planned to advance return initiatives for Western Azerbaijan
In the coming days, a meeting of the initiative group established in Azerbaijani parliament to facilitate the return to Western Azerbaijan is scheduled to take place, said speaker Sahiba Gafarova at today’s plenary session.
The formation of this group reflects ongoing efforts to address matters related to Western Azerbaijan, demonstrating the government's commitment to this significant issue, Caliber.Az reports.
Gafarova stated, "President Ilham Aliyev has repeatedly raised issues concerning Western Azerbaijan. To discuss the core activities of the initiative group, a meeting will be held in the coming days."
Notably, on October 21, a new initiative group has been formed within the Azerbaijani parliament to support the return of displaced Azerbaijanis to Western Azerbaijan. This development follows a communication from the Western Azerbaijan Community to Speaker Sahiba Gafarova, who has stated that the establishment of this group reflects a national consensus and aims to strengthen parliamentary diplomacy on this issue.
Gafarova has appointed MP Aziz Alakbarov to lead the group, which will focus on facilitating the right of displaced Azerbaijanis to return to their ancestral homes.
Additionally, on October 14, the Western Azerbaijan Community organised an exhibition titled "Western Azerbaijan in Our Cultural Memory" at the Warsaw School of Economics, showcasing the cultural significance of the region.
