Speakers of Azerbaijani, Armenian parliaments to meet in Geneva in November

President of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan and Speaker of the Azerbaijani Parliament Sahiba Gafarova plan to meet in Geneva in November.

Simonyan’s assistant Movses Harutyunyan said that a preliminary agreement was reached at the recent meeting in May, Caliber.Az reports citing the local media.

The recent meeting between Simonyan and Gafarova represents a significant development in the efforts to normalise relations between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Following the 2020 ceasefire, there have been various international and bilateral efforts to stabilise the region and normalise relations between the two countries. These efforts include peace talks, border demarcation discussions, and initiatives to reopen transport and communication links.
