Spiritual bonds between Azerbaijani, Russian Muslims hailed at international forum

21 September 2024 18:49

At the 20th Muslim International Forum under the motto “The path to peace: Dialogue as a foundation of harmonious coexistence,” held in Moscow, Sheikhulislam Allahshukur Pashazade, Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, emphasized the importance of skillfully managing state-religious relations to ensure the spiritual and moral stability of society.

Pashazade praised both Azerbaijan and the Russian Federation for their mutual respect and support for Islamic traditions, crediting Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev for actively defending multiculturalism and opposing Islamophobia. He highlighted the historical bonds among CIS Muslims, noting their shared spiritual space and commitment to good neighborliness, Caliber.Az reports via local media.

“Our spiritual connections with Russian Muslims remain strong, as we maintain ongoing communication with religious leaders in Tatarstan and other regions,” he stated. He also acknowledged the collaborative ties between the Caucasus Muslims Office and the Russian Orthodox Church, crediting Patriarch Kirill for his significant contributions to this interfaith dialogue.

Pashazade discussed Azerbaijan's ongoing reconstruction efforts following the restoration of its territorial integrity, including the revitalization of towns and villages and the restoration of religious sites of all faiths, including both mosques and Orthodox churches, damaged during the occupation.

The forum attracted guests from 40 countries and included prominent Azerbaijani figures such as Ramin Mammadov, Chairman of the State Committee on Affairs with Religious Associations, and Ravan Hasanov, Director of the Baku International Centre for Multiculturalism, further underscoring Azerbaijan's commitment to fostering dialogue and understanding within the global Muslim community.
