Spokesman: Azerbaijan denies baseless allegations on targeting civilian workers in Armenia
Foreign Ministry Spokesman Aykhan Hajizada has said that Azerbaijan denies baseless allegations of targeting civilian workers in Armenia.
The diplomat made the comments in response to his American colleague Matthew Miller's claim that gunfire coming from Azerbaijan purportedly "injured" two civilian employees of a US-affiliated enterprise in Armenia on June 14, Caliber.Az reports.
“We deny baseless allegations about targeting civilian workers at the metal smelter plant to be constructed in Armenia.
As usual, this is another fabrication by Armenia to mislead the attention from its military provocations on Azerbaijan the negative transboundary impact of the plant,” Hajizada tweeted.
Earlier, the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry reported that starting at 10:00 on June 14, the Armenian Armed Forces units from positions located in the direction of the Vedi district’s Arazdayan village resumed intensive shelling of Azerbaijani army positions located in the direction of the Sadarak district’s Heydarabad settlement in the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, using weapons of various calibres.
The Azerbaijani Defence Ministry denied Armenia’s alleged ceasefire breach allegations.
“We categorically refute the information disseminated by the Armenian side that the units of the Azerbaijani army allegedly opened fire on the metallurgical plant in the direction of Arazdayan and wounded two people,” the ministry said in a statement, Caliber.Az reported.
