Sweden ready to support mediation efforts between Azerbaijan, Armenia
Swedish Foreign Minister Ann Linde has said that Sweden is ready to support mediation efforts between Azerbaijan and Armenia.
Linde made the remarks during a meeting with her Azerbaijani counterpart Jeyhun Bayramov as part of the high-level week of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly in New York on September 24, Report informs citing the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.
The views on the prospects for cooperation between Azerbaijan and Sweden in bilateral and multilateral formats, as well as on regional issues were exchanged.
Bayramov stated that there are ample opportunities for further development of relations between the two countries, Sweden’s activity during the OSCE chairmanship was positively assessed.
The Azerbaijani foreign minister informed Linde about the current regional situation, Armenia's recent provocations and the mine threat.
Linde expressed concern about the current tension and stressed the importance of continuing efforts to normalise relations.
