Tajik president hosts CIS parliamentary delegations in Dushanbe
Tajikistan’s President Emomali Rahmon has met with the leaders of parliamentary delegations from Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) countries who arrived in Dushanbe to participate in a session of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly.
The meeting was attended by Ziyafet Askerov, First Deputy Speaker of Azerbaijan’s Parliament, Caliber.Az reports, citing foreign media.
President Rahmon emphasised that the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly remains a vital platform for comprehensive and constructive dialogue among member states.
He noted that the Assembly’s work encompasses key areas of cooperation, including legislative harmonisation, political and security matters, economic collaboration, and humanitarian engagement.
“Significant opportunities exist in these fields, which must be effectively leveraged for the benefit of the peoples of CIS countries,” he said.
The Tajik leader expressed satisfaction with the development of interparliamentary cooperation within the CIS and reaffirmed his country’s commitment to actively participating in international parliamentary structures, including the Inter-Parliamentary Union, the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly, and other multilateral platforms.
In closing, President Rahmon called on the parliaments of CIS member states to strengthen collaboration across all areas. He highlighted the importance of joint efforts in addressing contemporary threats such as terrorism, extremism, religious radicalism, cyberattacks, and other forms of transnational crime.
