Top Azerbaijani officials attend farewell ceremony for Iran's late Supreme Leader PHOTO

An Azerbaijani delegation led by Speaker of the Milli Majlis Sahiba Gafarova attended the farewell ceremony for Iran's former Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, in Tehran.

As Caliber.Az reports via local media, the delegation included Deputy Prime Minister Shahin Mustafayev, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ziyafat Asgarov, Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov, Prime Minister of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Jabbar Musayev, and other officials.

Upon arrival at Tehran's Mehrabad Airport, the delegation was welcomed by Ali Nikzad, Deputy Speaker of Iran's Islamic Consultative Assembly, and Azerbaijan's Ambassador to Iran, Ali Alizada.

The farewell ceremony was held at the Mosalla complex and attended by senior Iranian officials and foreign delegations.

During the visit, Gafarova held meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of the Islamic Consultative Assembly Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, and other Iranian officials.

On behalf of Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Speaker conveyed condolences over the death of Ali Khamenei and expressed sympathy and support to the people of Iran.
