Top diplomat highlights Azerbaijan’s role as regional transit, energy hub

Azerbaijan’s Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov addressed the 25th Annual Ministerial Meeting of Foreign Ministers of Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs) on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly in New York, according to the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry.

Bayramov highlighted Azerbaijan’s efforts to transform its landlocked geography into a major logistical, transit and energy hub connecting East-West and North-South routes through long-term strategic investment and sustained regional partnerships.

The minister stressed the importance of advancing transit digitalisation, simplifying customs procedures and developing integrated energy and digital infrastructure.

He specifically highlighted the Central Asia-Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor as an example of efforts to strengthen links between energy and digital infrastructure.

According to Bayramov, combining transport, energy and digital infrastructure can contribute to a more resilient global trade architecture.

The minister also emphasised that peace is an essential prerequisite for sustainable connectivity, highlighting the 8 August 2025 Washington agreements between Azerbaijan and Armenia and the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity (TRIPP) initiative.

Bayramov said the initiative would contribute to expanding regional and global transit networks, according to the Foreign Ministry.
