Top official: Azerbaijan’s reconstruction model recognised as unique globally

Azerbaijan has developed a unique model of post-conflict recovery and reconstruction that stands apart globally, according to Hikmet Hajiyev, Assistant to the President and Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Presidential Administration.

Speaking to reporters during a visit by foreign diplomats to the liberated territories, Hajiyev said the diplomatic corps and wider international community increasingly recognise that Azerbaijan has a unique model for recovery and reconstruction, and that no other region in the world has similar experience, Caliber.Az reports per local media. 

He noted that the country is carrying out reconstruction efforts using its own domestic resources.

Hajiyev added that the current trip marks the 21st visit by members of the diplomatic corps to the territories.

“Since the liberation of the territories, such visits [by the diplomatic corps—ed.] have been conducted regularly at the instruction of President Ilham Aliyev. The goal is to familiarise diplomats on the ground with the situation in the territories liberated from occupation. While initially diplomats witnessed the destruction caused by the Armenians during the occupation, they are now seeing the transformation of these lands and the progress of reconstruction efforts. Therefore, the impressions of the diplomats participating in the trip are very positive," he said. 

More than 150 ambassadors, diplomats, military attachés, and representatives of international organisations from 62 countries are taking part in the two-day visit to Karabakh and East Zangazur.
