TRACECA: International road transport can be expanded through Zangilan
Secretary General of the Transport Corridor Europe-Caucasus-Asia (TRACECA) Asset Assavbayev has said that the sphere of international road transport is most prone to congestion at the border and needs alternative routes, which is just possible to do through Zangilan.
Assavbayev made the remarks during the international conference on "International Transport and Logistics Corridor: impulses of development from Zangilan" held in the city of Zangilan, according to Trend.
He mentioned that when expanding the capacity of the TRACECA corridor, special attention should be given to border crossing issues to achieve 13 days of transport as the target time for rail transport.
"A recent study by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) indicates that traffic demand in TRACECA will increase over the next 20 years, increasing pressure on the corridor's infrastructure," the secretary general stressed.

The conference is jointly organized by the Special Representation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Jabrayil, Gubadli and Zangilan districts of the East Zangezur Economic Region, the Ministry of Digital Development and Transport, the State Customs Committee and the Institute of Economics of the Ministry of Science and Education.
