Trial of Ruben Vardanyan continues in Baku LIVE updates
The trial in the criminal case against Armenian citizen Ruben Vardanyan is continuing at the Baku Military Court on February 10, where he is facing charges including crimes against peace and humanity, war crimes, terrorism, financing terrorism, and other serious offenses.
During the hearing, Rufat Mammadov, head of the Cabinet of Ministers, appeared as a victim on behalf of the Azerbaijani state. He stated that he agrees with all the facts, arguments, and evidence presented by the state prosecution and outlined in the indictment, and asked the court to take them into account, Caliber.Az reports via local media.
The successors of the victims, including Azad Karimov and Ogtay Shikhaliyev, also addressed the court and called for the most severe punishment for the defendant—life imprisonment.
Ruben Vardanyan addressed the court as well, stating that he wanted to consult with his defence attorney, Emil Babyshov.
The court granted his request, and a recess was announced. The trial will continue after the recess.
The trial is set to continue following the break.
