Turkic Culture & Heritage Foundation: Great respect for women in Turkic world
Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation President Gunay Afandiyeva has said that great importance has been attached to respect for women in the Turkic world since ancient times.
Afandiyeva made these remarks at the international conference on women empowerment in Azerbaijan’s capital Baku, according to Report.
“Turkic peoples have always treated women with great respect. Proceeding from history, women sometimes headed the ancient Turkic state formations. As an example, we can mention Sara Khatun,” she noted.
Afandiyeva emphasized that in the modern world, women continue to play an important role in public life.
“For example, we have recently published a book about the creativity of famous Turkic poetesses. We translated this book into many languages to popularise Turkic culture,” she said.
