Turkic leaders to convene for informal summit in Kazakhstan
The Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) has confirmed that an informal summit of Turkic leaders is set for May.
The high-level meeting will be held in the city of Turkistan, Kazakhstan, local media reported.
In addition, the summit will feature an event marking the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress, organisers said.
The Organisation of Turkic States (OTS) is an intergovernmental body that brings together countries with shared Turkic heritage and cultural, historical, and linguistic ties.
Established in 2009 as the Turkic Council and later renamed in 2021, the organisation aims to strengthen cooperation among its member states in political, economic, cultural, and educational spheres.
Its founding members include Türkiye, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, with Uzbekistan joining as a full member in 2021. Hungary participates as an observer, highlighting the council’s wider outreach beyond Central Asia.
