Turkic nations’ health ministers gather in Astana to strengthen regional cooperation
The 5th Meeting of the Health Ministers of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) is currently underway in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana.
The discussions focus on the progress of healthcare systems in OTS countries and review the outcomes of the 4th Health Ministers' Meeting, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Key topics on the agenda include cooperation in emergencies, training healthcare professionals to respond effectively in such conditions, the establishment of a donor data bank, and strengthening partnerships in the medical and pharmaceutical industries.
Additionally, the role of international organisations in supporting the development of healthcare systems within OTS member states is being examined. A comprehensive action plan for 2025–2026 will also be approved, outlining the initiatives for OTS working groups.
Following the meeting, a Joint Declaration is expected to be signed, marking a significant milestone in the cooperation between the Turkic countries in healthcare.
Note that the 4th meeting of the Health Ministers from the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) took place in Shusha, Azerbaijan, on October 8, 2024.
