OTS chief: Azerbaijan successfully hosted numerous international events
The Secretary-General of the Organisation of Turkic States (OTS), Kubanychbek Omuraliev, has praised Azerbaijan’s experience in hosting international events, noting that the organisation of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) is among the most recent examples.
On the sidelines of the 13th session of the United Nations World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, he said the event is highly important and is aimed at developing human potential at the global level, Caliber.Az reports, citing local media.
Addressing global challenges, he made it clear that OTS member states take climate change, settlement issues, and other major global risks seriously and aim to contribute to their solutions, with several programmes and projects already implemented within the organisation.
“We can secure our future by responding to the challenges of our time and building sustainable and modern cities. To achieve this, the application of new technologies and artificial intelligence in urban planning is necessary. Alongside ensuring the comfort of city residents, this also protects ecological balance,” he stressed.
According to him, modern cities must, above all, be resilient to floods, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
“To properly build and secure our future, we must focus on constructing modern, resilient cities. We have signed a number of agreements, and these agreements are supported by the United Nations Human Settlements Programme (UN-Habitat). We will continue our cooperation with UN-Habitat. This cooperation helps us build fully inclusive cities,” the secretary-general added.
