Since 2016, Türkiye has executed three major anti-terror operations in northern Syria — Euphrates Shield (2016), Olive Branch (2018), and Peace Spring (2019) — to prevent the establishment of a terror corridor and ensure regional stability.
Additionally, Türkiye initiated Operation Claw-Lock in April 2022, aiming at PKK hideouts in the Metina, Zap, and Avasin-Basyan regions of northern Iraq, close to the Turkish border.
The PKK, recognized as a terrorist organization by Türkiye, the US, and the EU, has been responsible for over 40,000 deaths, including women and children, in its more than 35-year terror campaign against Türkiye.
