Georgian airports set new records in flights, passenger traffic
Georgia’s international airports have set new records for air traffic in the first nine months of 2025, handling a total of 28,700 flights — an 18% increase compared to the same period last year.
The country operates three international airports, located in Tbilisi, Kutaisi, and Batumi. Between January and September 2025, airports recorded 22,100 scheduled flights and 6,600 charter flights, Caliber.Az reports, citing Georgian media.
Passenger traffic also saw significant growth, with Georgian airports serving 6.5 million travelers — a 14% rise year-on-year. Tbilisi Airport led in passenger volume with 4.06 million (+12%), followed by Kutaisi with 1.4 million (+10%) and Batumi with 995,000 (+32%).
As of January 2025, some 50 airlines operate at Georgian airports, serving 92 destinations. The Hungarian low-cost carrier Wizz Air remained the market leader, transporting 1.06 million passengers and capturing a 17% share of the market.
Air cargo throughput for the nine-month period reached 5.9 million tons, marking a 50% increase compared with 2024. Use of the country’s airspace also grew, with takeoffs, landings, and overflights rising 5% to a total of 229,972 operations.
