Turkish Cyprus’ PM advocates for stronger ties with Azerbaijan, Türkiye
The Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) is committed to deepening its relations with Azerbaijan and Türkiye, Prime Minister Ünal Üstel said during a meeting with Azerbaijani MP Ramil Hasanov and Chairman of the Yeni Azerbaijan Party Youth Union, Bakhtiyar Islamov.
The meeting took place in Lefkosa in conjunction with the 23rd Congress of the National Unity Party (UBP), the leading political force in Turkish Cyprus, Caliber.Az reports per local media.
Prime Minister Üstel thanked President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdoğan for their support in promoting Lefkosa’s interests on the international stage, particularly within the Organisation of Turkic States. He highlighted the importance of strengthening political ties among the three countries and indicated that the UBP, under his leadership, is prepared to contribute to this process.
Üstel also underscored the significance of collaboration between youth associations from the political parties of the TRNC, Azerbaijan, and Türkiye, viewing it as vital for fostering stronger connections among the nations.
In response, MP Ramil Hasanov wished the UBP success in their congress and reiterated the commitment to enhancing dialogue with political parties in Türkiye and the TRNC. The meeting was attended by UBP General Secretary Oğuzhan Hasipoğlu and leaders of the party's youth wing, reflecting a unified approach towards strengthening trilateral relationships.
