Turkish delegation explores Azerbaijan’s military education system Photo

A high-level delegation from the Turkish National Defense University has arrived in Azerbaijan to deepen defence cooperation and gain firsthand insight into the country’s rapidly modernising military education system. 

The visit of the delegation from the University’s Land Forces Military Institute, including participants of the “Headquarters Management Course” and led by Vice-Rector, Professor Serdar Salman, began with a tribute to national figures and fallen heroes, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Azerbaijani Defence Ministry.

The Turkish delegation laid wreaths and flowers at the graves of Azerbaijan’s national leader Heydar Aliyev and renowned academician and ophthalmologist Zarifa Aliyeva at the Alley of Honor. They also paid their respects at the Alley of Martyrs and the Turkish Martyrs' Cemetery in Baku.

The delegation was officially received by Major General Gunduz Abdulov, Rector of the Azerbaijani National Defense University. During the meeting, Abdulov welcomed the guests and provided an overview of recent reforms and innovations in Azerbaijan’s military education system, highlighting alignment with global best practices. 

He also emphasised the strong foundation of Azerbaijani–Turkish military cooperation, built on longstanding friendship and brotherhood, noting that the partnership significantly contributes to the advancement of military education in both nations. Professor Salman expressed appreciation for the warm hospitality and underscored the value of reciprocal visits in fostering knowledge exchange and collaboration. 

The meeting concluded with a detailed presentation on the history, structure, academic programs, and scientific activities of the Azerbaijani National Defense University and its affiliated institutions. The two sides also held in-depth discussions on the progress of educational reforms within the Azerbaijani Armed Forces, and the Turkish delegation received answers to their questions.
